Bears WIN and Life Could Not be Better

bearclawupdates

I cannot believe how many people were ready to call Caleb Williams a bust after his first couple NFL games. He has now tied Cade McNown (theres a name I bet you forgot) for MOST TD passes in a single game by a rookie. That number by the way is 4. Before Cade? The record was set by Ray Buivid in 1937 with 5 TD passes. I'd say things are looking good so far.

The Bears steamrolled the London Jaguars 35-16. The haters will say "but the Jags suck". To which I say, you cannot control who you play. You play who you play and you do not apologize for it. This was an absolute thrashing and the Jags could have ben 0-4 and I would not have cared. To the people who still insist that we beat up on a bad team I'll counter with how that was accomplished.

Caleb Williams looked as comfortable as ever on Sunday morning. The biggest takeaway for me was how well he did going through his progressions. That was my main complaint with Fields last year. He constantly looked lost and flustered. Williams did a fantastic job quickly going through his reads and throwing to his second or third option if needed. There was a play in which Moore was WR1 on the route but after going through his progressions, Williams was able to correctly identify Odunze as the open number two receiver. There were multiple times when Williams was able to quickly pitch the ball to Johnson for a first down gain. This shows not only Williams' improved accuracy as he was 23 for 29 passes, it shows that he has a high football IQ and awareness that allows him to be a dangerous playmaker. Also can we please sign Coleman Shelton to a massive contract? I was extremely happy with how the center performed in this game especially when the O-Line is one of our biggest weaknesses.

I know I don't give enough credit to the defense but they also played lights out. Don't get me wrong, it helps when you're facing Doug Pederson and a regressing Trevor Lawerence, but they did a fantastic job on Sunday.

The Bears are looking like a cohesive football team that can win games. That is pretty much all you ask for with a rookie QB. Due to the bye week this Sunday I'll find some other topics to write about and maybe go over my season predictions because I might have to change a few things. Bear Down.
