RIP the 2024 Bears and a Catastrophe of a Season

bearclawupdates

The 2024 Bears season much like my posting history has been largely – a disappointment.  Admittedly, I along with many other Bears fans was over confident heading into the season.   Did I think we would make the playoffs?  No.  Going back to one of my first articles, I predicted the Bears would go… wait, I said 8-9 in my second half of the season prediction article but I predicted a total of 11 wins between both articles…  I guess I was making just about as much sense as Eberflus during the first few games.  Fine, maybe I did think we would make the playoffs at 11 wins, like I said, I was overconfident.  One thing I DID predict CORRECTLY was a week 18 win at Lambeau.  This season was a complete shit show but at least we kicked off 2025 with a win and snapped a streak that had been going on for far too long.  First time beating Green Bay since 2018, God it feels good to type that.

Next for the Bears to screw up is the head coach decision.  I am 100% confident that the Bears organization will find a way to whiff on this.  Hearing about Ryan Poles pushing for Brian Flores (yes the guy who completely mismanaged Tua in Miami and is a complete bully) because they’re college buddies and Ben Johnson would probably want a new GM is just so typical for this organization.  We really would let office politics get in the way of making a good decision.  Look, Vrabel is going to the Patriots and I doubt Mike McCarthy actually leaves Dallas.  I have a really bad feeling that the Bears are going to either cheap out on some unknown college coach or hire a DC who has no business being a head coach but he’ll march to whatever orders the McCaskey’s and Kevin Warren give.  I guess Pete Carroll is not a terrible option but not anyone I’m clamoring for.

What a weird and wild and sad season.  I made it out to one game, the Seahawks game where the crowd oscillated between cheering and booing and chanting “sell the team”.  I think that sums it all up nicely, oh and Caleb is THE guy no questions asked.  Thank you all for reading my half-baked opinions throughout the season.  I changed some things from pre-season to regular season in terms of the style of posts and fell short of how I wanted this to go.  Regardless, I really do appreciate the support and love from my family and friends who took time out of their busy days to read my articles (when I did post them).  This whole blog was/is out of my comfort zone and I really had/still have no idea what I’m doing.  Even if this is me ranting once and a while I thank all of you for tuning in.  I want to keep this going during the off season and next pre/regular season but I’ll definitely have to retool a few things.  Thank you all, have fun watching the playoffs (we’re all Philly fans this week) and I’ll be back soon.
